CHICKEN GRAVY....(kongunadu style)


My mom is excellent at cooking, especially chicken gravy.... its quite different from other style &  tastes well....try this style...

PREPARATION TIME: 15mins

COOKING TIME: 25mins

Ingredients:

Chicken- 400gms
Chopped onions- 2
Chopped Tomato-1
Curry leaves-1spring
Chili powder-1tsp
Coriander powder-1.5tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Chicken masala-1tsp
Salt - to taste
Coriander leaves - for garnishing

Ingredients for Roasting:

Curry leaves-1 spring
Small onions-10

Ingredients for Grinding:

Cinnamon sick-1
Cloves-2
Fennel seeds-1sp
Chopped Ginger- 1inch
Chopped Garlic-3 cloves  
Grated Coconut- 3tsp

Method:

  • Heat 1tsp of oil & roast the onions & curry leaves & keep it aside...
  • Grind the cinnamon,cloves,fennel seeds,garlic & ginger paste....later add coconut & above roasted onion & curry leaves......blend ino fine thick paste...keep it aside...
  • Heat 3tsp of oil, add chopped onions & curry leaves.....saute till golden brown..
  • Add tomatoes & toss well....
  • Now add the ground paste...chili, coriander,chicken masala,turmeric powders & saute for about 5mins...
  • Add the chicken, sprinkle some salt & mix well....cover & cook on  low flame for about 20mins...
  • When Gravy starts thickening, turn off the flame...
  • Garnish with coriander leaves...
  • Serve it with chapathi / idly/ hot rice....
