Its simple & very easy to prepare....one of my grandma's recipes....more delicious too...
Ingredients:
Thoor dal-1cup
Chopped Onion-1( medium)
Chopped tomato-1 (med)
Tamarind paste-3tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Green chili- 5
For seasoning:
Oil-2tsp
Mustard seeds- 1tsp
Cumin seeds-1tsp
Fenugreek seeds-1/4tsp
Curry leaves- 1spring
Method:
- Boil the thoor dal with turmeric powder & mashed well..
- Heat 2tsp of oil in a tawa, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, onion,chilies...saute till the onions turn brown color...
- Add tomatoes & 1/4 cup of water to it...
- At this stage add mashed dal & tamarind paste& salt into it...
- Cook on low flame until sambar thickens slightly.....adjust the quantity of water accordingly..
- A pinch of asafoetida & garnish wih corrander leaves...
- Tasty DHIDIR SAMBAR ie ready & Serve it with hot rice with veg curry......
