Rava idlis are a super fast alternative to traditional rice idlis.....its a instant recipe....no soaking/grinding....Nowadays there are many instant ready-made packets available in market...but nothing can be beat the taste of soft & fluffy home idlis....its slight change with the normal rice idlis. .. Try this..!!
INGREDIENTS:
White rava/ sooji- 2cups
Oil- 3tsp
Mustard & cumin seeds- 1tsp(each)
Channa daal- 1tsp
Urad daal- 1tsp
Red chili- 1
Cashew nuts- 8
Yogurt- 1cup
Curry leaves- 1spring
Green chili- 1
Cilantro/coriander leaves- 4(chopped)
Salt- to taste
METHOD:
- Heat oil in a pan & add mustard seeds to pop up..
- Add jeera, channa daal & urad daal, red chili , curry leaves, cashews & mix well..
- When it turns light brown, add in sooji/rava.....roast until get a nice aroma...
- Transfer into another bowl & allowed it to cool down...
- Meanwhile, in another bowl mix curry leaves, coriander leaves, green chili, salt & YOGURT mix well...
- Now pour the yogurt mixture into cooled sooji & mix well....
- Add some water & keep mixing until there are no lumps visible....when the batter is ready, rest for atleast 15-20 mins....
- Prepare idli steamer by pre-heating water to boil....then pour mixture into idli trays( before that decorate with the slice of tomato & cilantro & pour the batter)
- Put the idli stand into steamer & cook for 15mins on a medium heat...
- Remove the idlis from the trays by scooping them out with a spoon...
- Serve hot with spicy tomato chutney...or sambar... (click here for chutney )
