Ellu Mittai- Sesame Ladoo..(white sesame)

Ellu uranadai is my childhood favorite snack, my paati used to buy it... Sweet jiffy candy... :) It is special sweet prepared for VINAYAGAR CHATRUTHI... It can be prepared either with white or black sesame seeds.... It is rich in fiber content, calcium & zinc....very healthy snack for all...

Few years ago, our parent's used to eat sesame laddo, peanut candy, pori urandai..but now we are having fast foods & our next generation is spoiling their health because of junk foods... Atleast we try to teach the benefits of healthy sweets through these kind of festivals ..

Preparation time- 15mins     Cooking time- 15mins

INGREDIENTS:

White sesame seeds- 1 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Oil/ ghee- 1tsp

METHOD:

  • Heat a pan , add 1tsp of ghee/ oil, add sesame seeds & dry roast it..till golden color appears...
  • Then melt jaggery in water & heat it up...once the syrup starts thickening, switch off the flame... then strain to remove impurities....
  • Now transfer into plate, at this stage pour a drop of jaggery syrup into water, it cannot dissolve... leave for few minutes to cool down...
  • Add the roasted sesame seeds into the above syrup & mix together...
  • Grease your hands with oil & shape them into small balls(goose berry size)....
  • Cool down it & then store in a air-tight container....
  • Chewy jiffy ELLU MITTAI is ready...

NOTE-  Melt jaggery with hot water & you can use any kind of measuring spoons to make equal sized balls.... You can proceed with the black sesame seeds also....
