Kara Pidi Kozhukattai

Kara kozhukattai is very easy recipe... My mom always make sweet pidi kozhukattai, puran kozhukattai, ellu uranadai & sundal for VINAYAGAR CHATRUTHI...


 It is soft & less spicy... It can be prepared for evening snack for kids too... Very healthy & tasty recipe with fried onions, channa & urad dal...


Preparation time- 10mins    Cooking time- 15mins

INGREDIENTS:

Rice flour- 1 cup
Water- 3/4 cup
Salt- as needed

TO TEMPER:

Onion- 1(finely chopped)
Channa dal- 1 tsp
Urad dal- 1tsp
Mustard- 1tsp
Curry leaves- 1 spring
Green chilli- 2 or 3
Red chilli- 2

METHOD:

  • First heat the water, when it starts boiling add to rice flour & form a nice smooth dough... keep it aside...
  • Heat 1 tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, channa dal & urad dal, curry leaves..then add finely chopped onions & saute till golden brown color... Switch of the flame...
  • Now mix the above ingredients with the dough & mix well...
  • Grease your hands with oil & take a small portion of mixed dough & press it with your fingers as shown below:
  • Repeat the same procedure for remaining dough & keep the kozhukattai in a plate...
  • Now arrange the kozhukattai  in idly steamer plate & cook for about 10-13 mins....
  • Soft kara kozhukattai is ready to serve hot or warm....
